Russell P. MacFall (1903 – 1983) co-authored To Please a Child: A Biography of L. Frank Baum, Royal Historian of Oz (1961), the first biography of L. Frank Baum. His collaborator was Frank Joslyn Baum, the eldest son of the Oz author. His article "L. Frank Baum — Shadow and Substance" appeared in the December 1962 issue of the American Book Collector devoted to Baum. MacFall was a charter member of The International Wizard of Oz Club, and was President of the Club from 1967 to 1975. He was long active in fan activities.
