Magnus and DJ Mary are cheered to see Gold so inspired by the PokéAthlon. The Johto Elite Four arrive and challenge Gold to a PokéAthlon competition, proceeding to veritably slaughter him in all courses. In the last course, the Block Smash, Gold manages to outwit Bruno, using precision instead of raw force to break the blocks. After congratulating Gold on his victory, Bruno asks for Gold's true purpose in going to the PokéAthlon Dome; Gold admits that he's waiting for Lance, who claims to have information about Arceus.
