The Clone Wars (22 BBY–19 BBY) was a large-scale galactic conflict taking place between the Galactic Republic and the Sith-led Confederacy of Independent Systems. Tensions rose after the Invasion of Naboo, in which the Sith revealed themselves and declared a withdrawal movement from the Republic. Compelled by the Galactic Senate, the Jedi went to the Separatist rallying world of Geonosis to open peace talks between the growing rebellion and the Republic. Instead, the Sith captured the Jedi sent and slated them for execution. A strike force of Jedi Knights and Masters, leading a large task force of clones, intervened, sparking the First Battle of Geonosis and then the war itself.
