The fourth song on Dillinger Four's first album, Midwestern Songs of the Americas is Portrait of the Artist As a Fucking Asshole. The song is loosely about the DIY punk ethos and the band's personal motives for being a part of that scene. Although Dillinger Four is on a fairly large independent label, they have never shown interest in signing to a major label and have in the past purportedly turned down lucrative offers to sign with them. This lyric is specifically referring to the final line in that song: "Do you love telling your war stories while hiding your scars?"
