Yorkshire College, Leeds later became Leeds University, see University of Leeds on Wikipedia Cyril Ransome was Professor of Modern History and English Language and History there from 1878 to 1896 when he resigned. Arthur Ransome enrolled there in 1901 at 17½, to study science at his mother’s urging, but became interested in writing and books and dropped out after two terms in early 1902 to move to London and work for a publisher (Grant Richards). The Brotherton Library at the University holds most of AR's papers. Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire, see Leeds on Wikipedia
