The Farrier's Arms on Collier Street is a long-established pub in Weatherfield. When Florrie Lindley moved to Coronation Street in December 1960, Ena Sharples recognised her from her bar work in the pub where she had served "for donkey's years". She brought some of the tips of the trade she had learnt in the pub to the Corner Shop including displaying items on show in order to entice customers to buy them. Outgoing owner Elsie Lappin was sceptical but Florrie said that the landlord of the Farrier's had said that when they hung peanuts up behind the bar they sold twice as quickly.
