The Great Darkness was a location where the Kerestians believed that, upon death, souls were doomed to spend eternity, wallowing in torment in a black empty void. Due to their nature, the Kerestians themselves were unafraid of such a fate, instead embracing it to the extent of attaching ritualistic significance to kills made with their principle weapon, the darkstick.
