Nouland flares were nonsentient vines that were used to guard certain restricted areas. They were not very dangerous, however they were threatening-looking, flammable, and would explode when hit with a blaster bolt. Governor Choard's estate on Shelkonwa had a number of Nouland flares growing on the property.
