Toad Knoll was found just north of the North Ride, less than a mile west of the bridge over the Ashaba in Shadowdale. Toad Knoll took its name from the bumper crop of frogs and toads that occurred in the spring months, living and breeding in the marshy ground at base of Toad Knoll, caused by the the upwelling of an intermittent natural spring.
