Impressionism was an Earth art movement from the 19th century. Data, in his study and mastery of all styles of painting, had done a painting in the manner of the early French impressionists. He would later show this painting to Juliana Tainer in 2370. (TNG: "Inheritance" ) A list of artists associated with this movement, from the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 226) , included Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Auguste Renoir, and Claude Monet. The authors of this reference work date the early period of this movement to the 1870s.
