Yamaoki Kaoru (山沖 薫) is the new character who first appeared in Kagebōshi-hen of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kizuna: Dai Ni Kan Sō, and also appeared in Tokihogushi-hen and Miotsukushi-hen. He is the Chief of Police of Kakiuchi Police Department who Minai Tomoe, Minai Madoka, and Fujita Shingo work for. He is also a good old friend to Ōishi Kuraudo and Tomoe's late father.
