Rui Jormar was born to a poor family on Coruscant. He grew up in the Underworld, learning from early on to defend himself. At age 5, he was kidnapped by some local thugs, who also killed his parents, and with whom he had a few run-ins in the past. They worked for the Black Sun. His time as a captive was a short one, which ended when he escaped during a raid by one of the Black Sun's rivals, the Zann Consortium.
