The Emergency Ward is a Mungo's or primary care department that provides initial treatment to patients with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, some of which may be life-threatening and requiring immediate attention. This department have a contingent working 24 hours a day. The Emergency ward is the first line of treatment. This ward does not operate by appointments and would prioritize those patients with more immediate needs. Stable patients are transferred to the appropriate wards.
