Mother Buscol was an old fat female squirrel, who was a head friar in the Kitchen of Redwall Abbey in the childhood of Butty. She wore the slippers and an apron and she often helped to get Dibbuns to sleep. She sometimes took care of Russano and the children of Orocca and Taunoc: Nutwing, Nutclaw and Nutbeak. Mother Buscol also made a new jacket for Perigord Habile Sinistra and the flag for the army of Redwall, which fought against Damug Warfang and his horde. She carried a shell around her neck, because she believed it brought luck to her.
