The 1922 Vanderbilt Commodores football team represented Vanderbilt University during the 1922 college football season. In Dan McGugin's 18th season as head coach, the Commodores compiled a record of 8-0-1 (4-0 in conference games) and outscored opponents 177 to 16. Vanderbilt finished atop its conference for the second year in a row, tying with North Carolina and Georgia Tech for the Southern Conference championship. The team's defense was unrivaled in the South, having no points scored on them at home; and led the nation in scoring defense by giving up just 1.8 points per game.
