Len Trout was the Assistant Principal of Grantville High School at the time of the Ring of Fire. After the town was transferred back in time, he succeeded Ed Piazza as Principal. He was as an early morning grump, and most students knew to avoid him before he'd had his coffee. Trout died heroically in defense of the school gymnasium entrance when Croat mercenaries attacked the school. He was decapitated while defending the students at the school's gym alongside Jeff Higgins. Following his death, Trout was succeeded by Victor Saluzzo as replacement principal.
