In early July 2015, university students, and members of the Movement for People's Democracy organised a mass protest in the capital city of Brikkstö in protest against the government's actions in Flanders. However, the protest soon became an anti-government protest against the single-party rule of the Socialist Party in Westland. The demonstrations remained peaceful, however became the largest anti-government protests in Westland since the 1920's. This set forward a movement by many Westlandic citizens to begin an initiative which called for the dissolution of the Westlandic People's Republic which was presented to the Chancellor, Oska Stärk on the 25th July 2015.
