Fieldroan the Traveler was a compulsive journeyer, and was a learned beast as he documented his travels in the form of scrolls. In his old age, he was friends with Lorquin Woodsorrel. During a winter of deep snow, Brother Hubert sheltered him in the Gatehouse of Redwall Abbey. Before departing, he left some of his scrolls with Hubert, in particular ones containing directions to the Isle of Terramort. These scrolls included a riddle which was later used by Dandin, Mariel Gullwhacker, Durry Quill and Tarquin Longleap Woodsorrel to travel to Terramort Isle.
