The S.S. Walden was officially a Salvage ship, and unofficially a Pirate Ship that operated in a remote sector of the 'verse. It had a crew of at least six. Following a successful salvage mission on Ita, the Walden's crew responded to Serenity's distress call, but attempted to hijack the vessel when they learned that the only crew member aboard was Captain Reynolds. The crew was turned back to the Walden after a brief confrontation and continued on their way.
