A douchebag, also known as an asshole or jerk is a specific kind of supervillain. They are a widely accepted minority that has managed to find cultural acceptance despite the fact that they completely suck. For some reason, these people have also found a great deal of success as superheroes. The common rule is, if you have superpowers, and are vaguely handsome, you can be as mean as you want to and nobody else can call you on it. This creates drama for the writers much more easily than actually writing out real conflict for their characters.
