Cyclone David was an extremely powerful tropical cyclone that existed in the Bay of Bengal, making landfall in Andhra Pradesh, India as a category 4 equivalent tropical cyclone on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale. Once inland, the cyclone weakened slowly, and emerged into the Arabian Sea as a tropical depression on the scale. Whilst over India, the cyclone dropped heavy monsoon - like rainfall along its passage through the country. 83 people died during the cyclone, with 6 indirectly attributed to the cyclone. An additional 17b people are listed as missing. Damages from the cyclone totaled to $588 million in the country due to the cyclone.
