Annie meets Gilbert during a party. Mitchell introduces them to each other. Annie and Gilbert immediately become good friends. When Annie finds out that her fiancee Owen killed her, Gilbert takes care of Annie. Annie tells him that she believes that no one loves her. So Gilberts says that he loves her. By saying this Gilbert has completed his task on earth and is ready to pass over.
