Men's Normal Hill (HS 106) was the first Ski jumping competition in Sochi 2014. It took place on February 9th, 2014. 49 athletes from 16 countries took start in the first round. Originally it had to be 50 competitors, but Slovenia's Robert Kranjec did not compete because of knee injury picked up at Saturday's qualifying round. [1] In the second round, 31 competitors instead of 30 participated. Germany's Severin Freund fell in the first round and ended up on 44th position, but he was allowed to start in the final round because of the length of his jump. He took 31th place in the finals.
