During Jack's stay in Phuket, a Thai boy greeted him, calling him "Doctor Jack", and sold him soda on the beach, but seemed to know no other English. Later, after Jack's transgression of getting his tattoo, the boy ran away from Jack upon seeing him. His T-shirt features the Om, a symbol often used to identify Hinduism.
