The RG7421 features a basswood body mated to a maple and bubinga neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include dual Ibanez Vintage humbucking pickups and a fixed bridge. In 2001 a version with a baritone scale 27" neck, the RG7421XL (X=extended, L=Length), was introduced. The RG7420 is a similar model with a tremolo bridge. The RG7321 is a similar model with slightly different components (e.g. different pickups). In 2003, the RG7421 was discontinued but the model name was resurrected in 2013, although the new model has many changes.
