The Rwandan Ministry of Defence (MINADEF, , ) is in charge of the Rwandan Defence Forces. The Minister of Defence, a member of the Council of Ministers of Rwanda responsible to the government for defence policy, the conduct and implementation of defence programmes, is James Kabarebe since 2010. Jacques Nziza is Permanent Secretary. Charles Kayonga is Chief of Defence Staff. The ministry works closely with the Rwandan government on policy and tactical-level national security programs.
