A plasma arc, also sometimes called a plasma rifle, was a largish hand-held weapon that not only killed animals (as nerve disruptors could), but also destroyed property. Larger versions of these included ship-mounted plasma weapons that were made much less effective by the Betan development of a plasma mirror, which reflected the plasma beam back to the sender. A plasma arc could be set to low power at need.
