The Kingdom That Had No King is a story read to a group of kids by Luis on Sesame Street. It tells the tale of a kingdom in which life is always simple because the king is always there to tell them what to do. Until one day, he gets tired of ruling and moves to Florida to go fishing. Now the kingdom is left without a king. So the villagers decide what to do by voting. They use this strategy to decide what to do in their apple orchards, and when one of them comes up with a thought, this is signified by an apple falling on his or her head. In the end, they decide to go on telling themselves what to do and be kings and queens themselves- and crowns magically appear on their heads.
