Nurse Philips was one of the medical team who cared for Gail Tilsley when she went into labour with Sarah Louise one month prematurely in February 1987. Philips was present at the birth in the delivery suite and moved Gail and Sarah to a special care baby unit, where Sarah was put in an incubator. An exhausted Gail told Philips about the stir caused by the uncertainty over Sarah's paternity but stated that she didn't care. Philips offered a few words of support.
