The Kerotan first appeared in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Every unique area in the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater contains one Kerotan, except the Groznyj Grad Sewers. Hitting all 64 Kerotans gives the player the "Kerotan" title and unlocks the Stealth Camouflage for subsequent playthroughs of the game via a completed save file. In Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, the Kerotans, the Kerotan title, and Kerotan radio discussion with Para-Medic, were all replaced by the character Yoshi from the Super Mario series.
