Disneyland Park, formerly just Disneyland, is the original Disney theme park and the inspiration for the other "Magic Kingdom" parks around the world. The larger of the two parks at the Disneyland Resort, Disneyland was designed and built under the supervision of Walt Disney. Groundbreaking began on July 16, 1954, and the park opened on July 17, 1955. The original park opened with five themed lands: Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.
