George Kell is a former major league baseball player and member of the Hall of Fame. He played third base for a number of different teams throughout his career but is primarily associated with the Detroit Tigers. He was a 10-time All-Star and won the AL batting crown in 1949. Kell had a career batting average of .304 and only struck out 287 times over his 15 year career. After retiring from baseball, he went to have a 30 year broadcast career for the Tigers. Kell was elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee in 1983. Kell passed away in 2009.
