The S540FM features a mahogany body with a flamed maple top and back bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret bound rosewood fretboard with oval position markers. Components include a low-profile double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and Ibanez pickups. In 1998 the neck was changed from a one-piece maple construction to a three-piece maple and bubinga construction and the design was changed from the Wizard to the Super Wizard. Ths S540FM was discontinued after 1999, being replaced by the similar S1540FM, which was part of the Prestige line.
