A swug was a native species on the planet Soom. They would often grow to be chest high, skin brightly mottled with shades of pink, purple, and blue. They were used for food as well as prize animals. In 2258, Farmer Jae had a prized swug named Des. A dispute arose between Jae and Farmer Nee, in which Jae believed that Farmer Nee's Jab had stung Des, which would cause tiny eggs and larvae to grow beneath its skin. Elric and Galen helped investigate, discovering that the Jab had not stung Des. The Techno-mage Fa owned a book called Mirm, the Extremely Mottled Swug.
