Giovanni Battista Piranesi's etching of imaginary prisons are a possible outside influence on the depiction of the Castle. [ This scene] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] in particular looks reminiscent of a Piranesi etching. Othar has described the inside of the Castle as "Piranesi big" in his twitter.
