The Pequod System was a star system in the Talbott Cluster that became part of the Talbott Quadrant of the Star Empire of Manticore in 1921 PD. (SI1, SI2) The destroyer HMS Reprise was dispatched to Pequod to control the local merchant shipping. One day, the New Tuscan freighter Hélène Blondeau entered the system and exploded almost instantly. Reprise's commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander Denton, reported to the his superiors in the Spindle System that he believed the ship was blown up deliberately to support New Tuscany's claim of Manticoran harassment.
