The Sacramento California Temple is the 123rd operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The First Presidency of the Mormon Church announced on April 21, 2001 that a temple would be built in the Sacramento, California area. This temple is the seventh Mormon temple in California. Despite the number temples within the state (more than any state except Utah), the need is still there.
