A pulse mine was a type of anti-starship mine, which could be equipped with variable geometry detonators. Pulse mines were considered when Starfleet planned to mine the entrance to the Bajoran wormhole in 2373. However, they were rejected because it was realized that the supply of mines would be exhausted before the supply of Dominion ships would be. (DS9: "Call to Arms")
