Ackerman appeared in one episode of MacGyver, a series where Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neill) portrayed the main title role. He portrayed Doctor Daniel Jackson's companion in the 1994 feature film Stargate, which inspired the syndicated TV series Stargate film and TV series franchise. The role has been his most recent Hollywood appearance to date.
