Martin Appleton was a Manticoran citizen and an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy. Holding the rank of Lieutenant, he served as executive officer of the destroyer HMS Roland during the ships first assignment as Commodore Chatterjee's flagship in the Tenth Fleet's Destroyer Squadron 301. He was killed along with the entire crew when Roland and two of her sister ships were destroyed by the Solarian League Navy during the New Tuscany Incident. (SI2)
