It is a pure-energy weapon so it is bound to be heavily-effective against shields and kinetic barriers, however, the weapon has difficulty penetrating through heavy armored hulls. The weapon's rate of fire and accuracy makes it reliable and it is best when used against frigates and lightly armored cruisers.
