Eritrea separated from Ethiopia and suffered over 3 decades of warfare before and after independence. Eritrea now is under a dictatorship with is large scale Human rights abuse in Eritrea involving 'extrajudicial killings, sexual slavery and enforced labour.' Many people flee the country. Periodic famine and chronic food shortages are likely since this happens in other parts of the Horn of Africa. The full scale of problems is hard to assess as Eritrea is as secretive as North Korea.
