Link, a young Kokiri is unusual out of the other Kokiris. He has no guardian fairies while the rest of the Kokiri has one. The Great Deku Tree summons a fairy called Navi to go to Link. Navi then takes Link to the Great Deku Tree but the Kokiri leader, Mido won't let him pass unless Link is equipped with a shield and sword. Link then equips himself and Mido then lets him pass. The Great Deku Tree sends Link and Navi into his body and Link saves him. The Great Deku Tree then dies and Link then escapes to the Hyrule Castle where he finds Princess Zelda who tells him about Ganondorf.
