In 1981 in Guatemala, Marvin, along with Frank Moses and several others, were tasked with the mission of cleaning up a village after a lieutenant named Robert Stanton slaughtered its inhabitants. At one point during his service, Marvin was unknowingly being provided daily doses of LSD over a period of 11 years, making him highly paranoid. According to Frank, Marvin has apparently faked his death on several occasions.
