Sonic encountered the guardian whilst on a mission to shut down the Wing Fortress and confront Doctor Ivo Robotnik. Throughout the battle, Sonic continuously taunted his foe about its size, labelling it "fun-size" and wondering how the ship could its weight. Before long, Sonic was able to rip a hole in its stomach with a Spin Attack. The force of this impact caused it to fail, sending it crashing to the floor in a shower of sparks.
