Light warp was a condition of a ship after leaving light speed in which the sensors could experience distortions bad enough to miss a planet or other objects. The condition could be overlooked because scanners operate as if there was no distortion. In 2267, DeSalle speculated that the USS Enterprise was in a kind of light warp after confirming the presence of a planet previously undetected by the ship's sensors. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos" )
