Marilen was pregnant with Josef when Lief, Barda and Jasmine came to Tora after destroying the Sister of the West. Josef was born before the wedding of Barda and Lindal. Marilen would keep the infant Josef in a basket next to her while she recorded the marriage of Lief and Jasmine in The Deltora Annals.
