Malachai was the immediate subordinate of Isaac in Children of the Corn (1984) from the beginning. He always carried out his orders and executed the killings for him. In time, however, he began to interpret the wishes of the demon in his own way, saw Isaac as incompetent to lead the cult and the threat that came from Burt and killed him for that. Burt defeated him and Isaac, now possessed by the demon, took him away to the corn.
