A blizzard is a severe winter storm with low temperatures, strong winds, and heavy blowing snow. They are formed when a high pressure system and a low pressure system interact. According to the National Weather Service, a blizzard must have winds of at least 35 mph(56 km/h) which lead to blowing snow, visibilities of 500 ft. or less, and last for at least 3 hours.
