Lightning, real name Claire Farron, is the main protagonist in Final Fantasy XIII as well as the narrator and a playable character in Final Fantasy XIII-2. She is initially shown to be a cold person, often distancing from her companions; however, later on in the story, she is shown to have a caring side. She fights to survive and see her sister Serah come out of crystal stasis. Lightning has the distinction of being one of the few female main protagonists of games in the mainstream Final Fantasy series, the others being Terra Branford and Celes Chere from Final Fantasy VI.
